Fishing adventure

Had a lovely day fishing with my husband and the pups. This is the second time in a week we have gone. Before that its been over 20 years! Last week we took a pleasant drive to the south fork of the Boise river. I had never been there before even though I have lived in Idaho for over 25 years. Yesterdays trip was over by the Snake River area. A lake in one of the wildlife management areas. Both fishing holes are about two hours from my home.

It was wonderful escaping the house for a day of natural beauty and great companionship. As a bonus we got to skip a trip to the supermarket for dinner as we scored a few rainbows. The fishing rods have been collecting much dust in the garage. Dean decided to give them a revamping with new lines. This resulted in two extra loaded spools with our old line. Still useful and would be much needed if we really got things twisted up in the field. Now that we had two extra spools to take Dean said he needed a little container to keep them in. A small enough bag to safely store them that would easily fit in our tackle box. I quickly jumped to work, designing, sizing, cutting and sewing a little bag to hold them. In the end it took me about an hour and a great way to use some scraps of leather I had.

I feel so fortunate to live in Idaho where we have been able to leave our home for a few hours of escape. I do miss the days of the Capital City Public Market operating every Saturday. It might still be some time in the future until the vendors can fill the streets of Boise again. On the positive side our old 4-runner has been empty of the plastic containers, canopy and all the things I bring to the market every week. Now the car sits with a few camp chairs in the trunk ready for the next adventure.

I told Dean I want to explore a new fishing spot every week. At least until the world opens up again. Till then!
