“Shop” & Tools

My workshop is my home. I am so fortunate to work in such a comfortable place. My favorite workspace is the kitchen which has the perfect size island for most of the hand cutting of the hides, hand dying, and assembly work. My dining room hosts two leather industrial sewing machines, a skiver and the various paints, hardware, tools, and everything else needed for a leatherworker. An upstairs bedroom stores the hides, appropriately piled on tables depending on their classification. On the edge of my kitchen table sits a slab of granite, an excellent spot for curated tools and punches. My dogs and cat make great supervisors, requiring an employee (me) various breaks from the sometimes rigorous and physical demands of leatherwork with a much-needed walk or lunch.

My husband is a tremendous help not only in the shop, but also helping with weekly market duties, traveling shows throughout the year, and giving me continual encouragement and advice as my craft evolves.
